Arctic Monkeys Sign Elephant Statue For Charity
The signatured elephant is part of an ongoing artistic project that aims to raise money for the hospital, where individuals are commisioned to design an elephant sculpture in their own unique fashion.
The sculpture was designed by Matthew Cooper, the individual who also coined the bands album cover for Artic Monkey's number one, platinum-selling album AM. Speaking of the design, Cooper stated: "I was asked to come up with a design for the band's contribution to the Herd of Sheffield. The black and white oscilloscope from the band's 2013 album ‘AM’ seemed like a good place to start - a striking, minimal and instantly recognisable design.”
The band released a statement outlining their support and obvious joy to be involved with the charity: “We are absolutely delighted to be involved in the Herd of Sheffield and supporting The Children’s Hospital Charity.”
The elephants are set to be auctioned on October the 20th at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
Tickets are priced at £25 and are available here
