Arctic Monkeys: New album is a balance of previous music

Arctic Monkeys reveal that their new album will be a balance of their previous albums.

The Arctic Monkeys have described their new highly-anticipated album as a balance between their first three albums, which follows comments from the band that they want to get "better rather than bigger".

Lead singer and electric guitar player Alex Turner was speaking about the band's new album Suck It and See, which is released at the beginning of June.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Turner said, for example, that there was "nothing about taxi ranks", which referenced the observational style of their debut album.

He said: "There's a bit of the standpoint I had on those early songs and the sense of humour, but also there's a bit of the Humbug stuff which is kind of off in the corners."

Revealing their artistic integrity, the band recently said in an interview with the Guardian that they were more interested in being better than bigger after being asked about the dramatic changes from performing in front of hundreds and thousands of people at Glastonbury to a small club in Oslo.

The new album is currently streaming online for free listening, following the latest promotional trend to be dominating the way music is currently released in the industry. Lady Gaga recently streamed her album via the Metro newspaper website and electric guitar player Eddie Vedder also streamed his new album on the website We7.
