Arcade Fire discuss love of album format
Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler has spoken about his determination to continue producing albums that adhere to an artistic format.
The multi-instrumentalist told the Scotsman that the band have a traditional outlook on the importance of making LPs that focus not only on the music, but also ensuring the artwork and the studio recording is as good as possible.
Butler said this drive comes partly from his own experience of listening and responding to pop music in his younger years.
In all of the band's three records, including latest album The Suburbs, Arcade Fire have interwoven themes across different songs, as the band look to make each work resonate with listeners.
"I've been moved by albums a lot more than I've been moved by singles and we're an album band," Butler explained. "I'm not going to stop making albums because of some fad of digital distribution."
Arcade Fire have just completed a sell-out tour of the UK following the release of The Suburbs earlier this year.
The band have already been booked to play Benicassim Festival next year, with their performance at the Spanish event scheduled to take place on July 17th 2010.
