Arcade Fire are to play two late summer shows in Manchester and Edinburgh, it has been announced.

The electric guitar band will play at the MEN Arena in the north-west of England on August 31st, moving on to perform a special show at Edinburgh Castle the following day.

They will follow an earlier UK date for the indie group, who are set to headline Hyde Park in London on June 30th, with their support acts for this mammoth show including Mumford and Sons and rising stars The Vaccines.

Meanwhile, a short film by director Spike Jonze based on Arcade Fire's critically-acclaimed latest album The Suburbs is to be shown at the Berlin Film Festival later this month.

Scenes From The Suburbs is to be shown alongside four other pieces on four separate occasions during the festival, which will run between February 10th and 20th this year.

The piece is set to music from the band, who have taken a role as executive producers for the short.

Will and Win Butler from Arcade Fire worked with Jonze in writing the script for the piece, which has a running time of around 30 minutes.
