Andy Williams to play Glastonbury
Glastonbury revellers may be more used to thrashing electric guitars and the latest pop sensations, but octogenarian singer Andy Williams looks set to perform at the festival next summer.
The 81-year-old singer was promoting his new autobiography at the Cheltenham Literature Festival when he revealed that he has been booked to appear in 2010 by festival organiser Michael Eavis.
Fender Telecaster player Bruce Springsteen was one of the headline acts at this year's event, along with reformed Britpop band Blur and Lily Allen.
However, the event is well known for its eclectic mixture, as acts including Tom Jones and Tony Christie also performed at the Somerset-based festival during the summer.
Bookmakers are already taking bets on which act will headline the 2010 event, with William Hill offering 4/1 odds on The Rolling Stones.
Even though festival organisers have not officially announced which big names will be appearing at Glastonbury next year, tickets sold out within 24 hours of going on sale to the public.Posted on 12 Oct 2009 14:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News
