Alicia Keys donates musical instruments to former school
Keys, who first stormed to fame in 2001 with her debut studio album Songs in A Minor, a piano led masterpiece that wowed critics and music-lovers alike, turned up to the school in Manhattan to the surprise of everyone.
According to the piano superstar, the Professional Performing Arts School, where she learnt the skills that have led her to global success, is underfunded and oversubscribed.
"I hope to make this better for them," the Grammy Award winning singer said of her kind donation of music instruments.
Her charitable efforts have also extended to organising a concert for her charity Keep A Child Alive.
She has recruited some of the top musicians around to perform at the concert, including Usher, Norah Jones and Jay Sean.
It is being held in honour Beatles legend George Harrison, for his philanthropy work in India.
