Alesis DM10 Pro Drum Kit praised in review
Posted on 22nd Feb 2010 16:37 to category Instruments News
Released at the end of 2009, the Alesis DM10 Pro Electronic Drum Set has proved to be a popular and innovative kit.
Following winning the coveted 'Best In Show' prize at Summer NAMM 2009, drum expert Mike Dolbear gave his opinion on the kit.
The DM10 Pro is a five-piece kit offering a large range of drum samples and powerful editing, alongside computer connectivity.
It ships with 1047 sounds covering acoustic and electronic drums, percussion and melodic instruments of 16 bit uncompressed samples.
Mike was impressed by the sounds of the new module, "they are real samples so they are more realistic than some overly perfect modelled sound".
"It's a really good mid-range module that would cater for quite a few more serious players as well."
The sounds of the module are triggered by a combination of Surge Cymbals, made from real cymbal alloy, and Mylar Drum Heads with real steel rims.
One of the really outstanding features for Mike was the advanced record functionality of the DM10 Pro.
Whilst on the majority of electronic kits you can record yourself, the DM10 allows you to view what you played across a grid as though they were programmed into a drum machine.
With erase and quantize functionality on board, this allows you to really develop your playing and edit what your groove.
For Mike Dolbear, the Alesis DM10 Pro is "possibly the leader of the pack at the moment" for electronic drum kits sub £1,000.
