Alan McGee: Paul McCartney should retire
Posted on 28th Jan 2010 13:55 to category Band / Celebrity News
Paul McCartney should hang up his electric guitar for good, music mogul Alan McGee has claimed.
Speaking to the Daily Record, the former Creation record label chief, who helped the likes of Oasis, Primal Scream and Glasvegas shoot to fame, said music was a young person's game.
"McCartney should retire," he claimed. "Just give in, Paul. Can't he and people like him retire?
"Music should be like football. You don't have 66-year-old football players. There's a reason for that."
McGee said that he believed as rock stars get older, they lose perspective and don't produce the same calibre of music.
However, it seems fans of the former Beatle are unlikely to agree with McGee's assessment.
Last month, tickets for one of the electric guitar player's shows at the 02 Arena in London sold out within just four seconds of going on sale as fans jammed phone lines and websites, reported BBC6 Music.
