br /> This month, Sound on Sound magazine has looked at the APC40 in great detail and have been offering high praise to the unit.

Ableton Live software is known as a powerful, flexible DAW for creating, performing, and producing music.

The Akai APC40 takes away much mouse-controlled editing, by allowing the user to control instruments on the unit itself – providing a far more fluid approach through which to make music.

SOS noticed how ‘A few months have passed since the release of the APC40, and it seems to have been received with near-universal enthusiasm’.

Designed specifically for Ableton Live, you don’t need to map any of the controls to the software when you take this unit into your studio.

Sound on Sound stated that ‘The APC40 is the missing link that turns Live into a true performance instrument straight out of the box’.

All you need to do is plug in the APC40 to your computer, and you’ll be ready to make music.

One of the features most impressive to SOS was the Clip Launce Matrix, offering the possibility of ‘mouse-free orchestration of clips and scenes in Live’s Session View’ as well as the ability to control multiple clips simultaneously.

Having been made specifically for Ableton Live, it may be a surprise to learn that some features of this unit are also compatible with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) other than Abelton Live making this an even more versatile bit of kit.
