And it seems the same is true, even if the instrument you're playing is, well, invisible.
Air guitarist Juan Nightstand (aka Jon Morales) has told the Islington Gazette that he has tried to take on judges' comments while working on his art.
Speaking in the wake of winning a trip to the global finals of this year's Air Guitar Championships recently, according to the publication, Mr Morales commented: "I have been at this for a few years and I have tried to put what the judges have said into practice."
"Now I cannot wait to represent the UK at the world finals," Morales, who had apparently won this year's United Kingdom Air Guitar Championships later added.
Here at Gear4Music, the electric guitars we sell are of the solid rather than the air variety. However, perhaps enthusiastic air guitarists could pick up an amp to add an extra twist of realism to their instruments?
