Soul singing sensation Adele has poured her heart out after persistent vocal problems forced her to cancel her much-anticipated US tour.

A vocal haemorrhage has meant the 23-year-old Londoner is unable to perform singing duties to the high standard she is known for as it could damage her amazing voice for good.

Writing on her blog, Adele talked openly to her fans about her long battle to get back on top of the game.

She wrote: "Guy, I'm heartbroken and worried to tell you that yet again I'm experiencing problems with my voice. It's ridiculous, I know! I can't believe it myself. I follow all the advice I'm given and stick to regimes, rules and practices to the best of my ability but it seems to simply not be enough."

The singer-songwriter went on to explain that the problems originated as far back as the start of the year, which was the result of a bout of flu she had picked up in December 2010.

She added that because she had never had problems with her voice before, she hadn't realised that with each passing song, her voice was becoming weaker and weaker until "it eventually broke".

"Singing is literally my life, it's my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever," she told her fans in a heart-felt plea.

"I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously I take it and how truly devastated and annoyed I am by this. "
