Acoustic guitar player wins music award
An acoustic guitar player from Bristol has been crowned the winner of this year's Acoustic Magazine awards.
Gaz Brookfield travelled from his home in Brislington to Exeter to perform in front of the panel of judges.
But the 31-year-old told the Evening Post that he was in shock but delighted at scooping the top prize.
Ben Cooper, editor of Acoustic Magazine, said: "Well-constructed songs and a good voice made him catch the judging panel's eye."
The son a of a music teacher, Mr Brookfield had originally played the saxophone before switching to the acoustic guitar.
In 2006 he decided to focus on performing as a solo artist after playing in bands.
His prize includes a new guitar and a slot performing at the Beautiful Days festival in Devon on August 21st 2010.
