Abergavenny vintage drum kits proving big hit with the stars
Nick Hopkin, from Monmouthshire, set up his Abergavenny workshop just six months ago and has been gaining attention for his vintage kits.
"I have always loved drumming and as a child I was always banging on pots and pans. As I grew older, I played in various bands and toured the country, but got tired of the lifestyle," Mr Hopkin explains.
The restored kits caught the attention of Steve White, who was looking for a specialist snare drum for Radiohead's upcoming tour across Europe.
Mr Hopkin has provided equipment for Monnow Valley studio in Monmouth which has been used by the likes of Manic Street Preachers and Oasis in the past.
A typical restored older model from the Welsh businessman's start-up is priced around £2000. Hopkin's young family is keen on helping, particularly his three-year-old daughter Alice, "She used to watch me clean drums, strip them and put them back together and she can do that now", he told the South Wales Argus.
