AC/DC to headline Download Festival
Posted on 26th Jan 2010 14:36 to category Band / Celebrity News
Electric guitar legends AC/DC have been announced as the first headline act for Download Festival 2010.
The event, which is to be held at Donington Park between June 11th and 13th this year, will also feature performances from Deftones, Megadeth and Motorhead.
It will be the first time that AC/DC have played at Download, although the band did play at Donington Park three times during the 1980s and 1990s, when the festival held at the site was known as Monsters of Rock.
Andy Coppinger, Download festival promoter, said that booking AC/DC was a dream come true.
"Download 2010 will be one for the history books," he said.
"It will see the return of the world's greatest rock band to the most legendary and spiritual home of rock."
Also appearing on the bill are supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, who are comprised of Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme, Foo Fighters star Dave Grohl and Led Zeppelin guitarist John Paul Jones.
Last week, Sir Paul McCartney told the Daily Mail that he had asked Grohl if he could join the band on bass guitar but was told the position had already been taken by Jones.
