AC/DC, KISS and Slash lead rock nominations
Posted on 13 Aug 2010 10:00 to category : Band / Celebrity News

AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine, KISS and Slash are all up for two awards at the Classic Rock Roll Of Honour.
The four rock giants are all nominated for the coveted Band of the Year accolade and will compete against Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and the Jeff Beck Band in the category.
The ceremony - held by Classic Rock Magazine and hosted by Alice Cooper - will take place on Wednesday 10 November at London's Roundhouse venue.
Nominees in other categories include Iron Maiden, Pearl Jam and Gaslight Anthem for Best Album and The Rolling Stones and Black Sabbath for Reissue of the Year.
The nominations for Best New Band see a range of emerging talent battling it out, including The Union - a brand new classic rock act fronted by former Thunder guitarist Luke Morley and ex-Winterville vocalist-and-guitarist Peter Shoulder - and the blues-influenced New Yorkers Alberta Cross.
DVD/Film of the Year nominations include 'The Runaways' - featuring Twilight's Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning - and The Doors' 'When You're Strange', a documentary narrated by Johnny Depp.
Other gongs to be handed out on the night will include the Classic Rock Living Legend, Classic Songwriter, Tommy Vance Inspiration Award, Outstanding Contribution, Classic Album, Metal Guru and VIP Award.
Classic Rock Editor-in-Chief Scott Rowley said: "Capping off a year that saw Classic Rock explore exciting new formats with the release of the Slash album, the launch of our own festival with partners MAMA Group called High Voltage, and the continued success of the magazine as well as our sister magazine Prog, this year's move to the Roundhouse - with the Right Reverend Alice Cooper as ringmaster - shows Classic Rock's commitment to aiming high and doing things differently."
