A-ha to call it a day
Posted on 16th Oct 2009 16:00 to category Band / Celebrity News
Veteran pop group A-ha are to hang up their keyboards and electric guitars after a farewell tour.
The Norwegian three-piece rose to prominence in the mid-1980s and secured a major international hit with Take On Me.
A-ha have notched up 15 top ten hits in the UK, including Cry Wolf, Stay On These Roads and I've Been Losing You, as well as more than 35 million album sales across the world.
However, the band have now opted to call it a day following the commercial success of their most recent album Foot of the Mountain.
A farewell tour will take place in 2010, with the final concert being staged in Oslo in December.
"We've literally lived the ultimate boy's adventure tale, through a longer, more rewarding career than anyone could hope for," they said in a statement.
A-ha added that parting company now will give each band member a chance to get more involved in other "meaningful aspects of life", such as art, politics and humanitarian work.
