A Day in the Life named best Beatles song
A rundown of the 50 best songs ever recorded by guitar legends The Beatles has resulted in A Day in the Life being voted number one.
Following a poll of music industry experts and readers of the Gibson website, the track was named ahead of Strawberry Fields Forever in second and In My Life in third.
There were also places in the top ten for Yesterday, Hey Jude, Tomorrow Never Knows and Across the Universe.
But according to the Gibson website, A Day in the Life is a deserved winner.
"[It] represents the peak of the middle-period Beatles, when no sonic stone was left unturned and every trip to the studio was an opportunity to do something no one else had ever done before," the article stated.
