The DTX500K has a variety of training tools including the well-known Groove Check that displays whether you are playing too early or late allowing you to correct any bad habits early on.

Rhythm Gate is a drumming game that automatically mutes the sound if you play too far off time so you can quickly learn to control your rhythm and play "in the pocket". With Yamaha's innovative tools practice has never been so much fun! The songs of the DTX500K let you play along in different styles with or without the recorded drum track, solo with the bass player, or with the full ensemble to making practicing seem more like a band rehearsal.

The DTX500K also includes an audio input for connecting external music players to the module allowing you to play along with your favourite songs, either though the main output or in your headphones, so you can quickly master the pieces you want to learn note for note. Helping you keep time, the DTX500K comes equipped with a high-performance, programmable metronome that allows complicated rhythms and tones to be set - a vital piece of kit for many progressing drummers. The DTX500 trigger module is also equipped with a MIDI output port for connecting the kit to additional devices or a computer (computer connection requires MIDI interface) for music production applications.

Authentic Acoustic Feel

The DTX500K features traditional electronic rubber practice pads that have a pleasing stick rebound without being too bouncy giving you a more authentic playing experience. The kit also includes a genuine Yamaha bass drum pedal allowing you to develop techniques which will easily transfer to an acoustic kit.

The kit also features a hi-hat system that uses a remote hi-hat pedal controller (included with the kit) and trigger pad to provide a realistic hi-hat expression. The pedal and pad can be located anywhere around the kit, much like the popular remote cable hi-hat systems for acoustic drums. Moreover, the hi-hat can express various styles of play such as open/close position, closed pedal and foot splash. You can even play tip and edge voices for adding subtle nuances to the beat!
