Rode NT-49 Microphone

Details
The Rode NT-49 Condenser Microphone features a brand new HF7 1" Dual Sided Condenser Capsule and is ideal for recording classical performances. The condenser mic includes the same true valve circuitry of the TFM-50 but is designed with a very flat frequency response and excellent frequency linearity across all polar patterns. With the NT49 power supply, users can use the intuitive polar pattern switch to toggle between omnidirectional, figure 8, and cardioid pick-up patterns. Also included in the power supply is a two stage high class filter for shaping low frequency pick-up to match any recording conditions.

Smooth Polar Performance

The most promising feature of the Rode NT-49 microphone is the option to choose between three polar patterns. The NT-49 power supply allows users to toggle between omnidirectional, cardioid and figure 8 polar patterns, whilst providing a smooth performance in between. The omnidirectional pattern has equal sensitivity at all angles and therefore picks up sounds from all directions, excellent for hanging above an orchestral performance. A cardioid pattern is more receptive to sound from the front of the microphone and isolates unwanted noise. This polar pattern is more resistant to feedback than omnidrectional and is best suited to loud stages. Finally, a figure 8 setting will give the NT-49 the ability to pick up sound from the front and back but not from the sides. This polar setting can isolate instruments in close proximity, once again ideal for the close quarters within an orchestral performance.
