The CLP-430 uses Real Grand Expression, the next-generation piano sound source that lets you enjoy the playing response of a concert grand piano. The CLP-430 features a new smooth release function which can express sound with great clarity, and clearly enunciate staccato notes with the sound of lingering resonance heard when gently lifting your fingers from the keys.

The grand piano voices of the CLP-430 were obtained by recording the sounds of a single Yamaha concert grand piano selected and tuned by a specialist piano technician. This attention to detail resulted in a sound that displayed not only the beauty of each note, but the harmonized sound of a single piano. The musical instrument-like resonances from the speakers also give the impression that the CLP-430 is more acoustic than it is digital.

This Clavinova has many additional distinctive piano voices including a piano for ballads that gently resonates the start-up sound, a piano for jazz that adds depth to the sound, and a piano for popular music with bright, rich sound. To ensure that the sound conforms closely to the genre, adjustment of each piano voice focuses on the resonance, or the sound produced when you lift your finger, and other delicate nuances. This means each time you play the CLP-430, you can immediately enjoy the perfect piano sound without having to make any adjustments.

Along with the traditional piano voices, the CLP-430 also offers a wide selection of musical instrument voices, including electric piano, harpsichord, guitar and strings. The dual capability of this Clavinova digital piano means you can play two voices simultaneously, providing a rich sound by overlapping the piano sound with strings. By combining the voices in various ways, you can enjoy many different styles of play.

The touch of the CLP-430 keyboard has been praised by pianists for a performance feel that makes you forget it's a digital piano. The secret behind this superior touch is the same hammering system and spring-less mechanism as a grand piano. Depending on the weight of the hammer, the force of your touch and the natural key return when you release it, the CLP-430 faithfully reproduces the keyboard touch of an acoustic piano from the heavy feel in the lower range to the light feel in the higher range. Also important is Yamaha's unique three-sensor system, which accurately senses and interprets the behaviour of the keyboard, just like a grand piano. Volume adjustment is convenient for playing at home, where sometimes others may prefer you play softly. On the CLP-430, the Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC) function automatically adjusts the sound, so you enjoy proper sound balance accommodating treble and bass even at low volumes. Additionally, the volume dial automatically makes fine adjustments to overall sound of the speaker system (EQ) at low volume.

In addition to volume adjustment, a compact shape and not requiring tuning, the CLP-430 also has two headphone jacks so you can listen to your children practice or enjoy playing duets in private. A metronome and other useful features can be used to help you improve your piano skills.

Recording on a CLP-430 is simple and speedy and a useful way to evaluate your performances. You can record with the touch of a button and even do two-track recording, which lets you record the parts for your two hands separately, then play them simultaneously. You can also store performances on a USB memory device. The recordings can be played back without a Clavinova, you can store it on a PC to track and compare your progress or put the recordings on a CD so your family and friends can enjoy them. You can also listen to the files on-the-go by loading them on to portable media players.

The CLP-430 has 50 famous piano pieces stored on it. These pieces are perfect to be used for lessons. You can listen to them as models, reduce their tempo and play along, or play back only the right hand part so you can practice the left hand part.

Yamaha HPH-200 Headphones

Designed to deliver precise reproduction of instrumental music, Yamaha's open back design, large driver and soft earpads ensure premium sound quality and maximum comfort.

The Yamaha HPH-200 headphones are built with an open-back design. The metal grill housing not only provides optimum monitor performance but also allows an appropriate amount of sound dispersion. This allows you to use the headphones for longer periods of time without listening fatigue becoming a problem. It also means that the headphones allow some outside sounds to penetrate making them perfect for use in group sessions or when playing with another sound source.

The large 40mm driver and strong magnet are able to deliver a wide dynamic range, from lively highs to deep bass making the HPH-200 headphones suitable for both vocals and musical instruments.

The soft velour-like earpads are extremely comfortable even when worn for extended periods of time. The earpieces are fully adjustable, swivelling to a flat position for easy storage and transportation. The size of the headband can be adjusted to ensure a completely comfortable fit.
