Tanglewood Sundance Historic
Designed by some of Europe's most celebrated Luthiers, each instrument is a manifestation of some of the finest tonewoods available, produced with meticulous attention to detail. Tanglewood's instruments reflect a perfect blend between time-honoured design philosophies and modern manufacturing processes. The Tanglewood Sundance Historic is an ideal instrument for left handed players craving that iconic Tanglewood tone.
The orchestra body is compact with a clear and dynamic focused voice with excellent projection. The orchestra shape has been around since the 1950s, they have been so well loved and respected over the years that they have become an acoustic must-have. Perfect for players with a shorter reach, that find dreadnought shapes a little too much to handle, and for those who don't want to lose the projection that larger bodies are known for producing. The dimensions of the orchestra shape enable the guitar to produce a very dynamic range, a brilliant low-end response, and an enormous voice for such a compact guitar. Unlike other big-bodied guitars that require an aggressive attack to get the top end moving, the orchestra shape is very responsive to a lighter touch, perfect for guitarists with a soft playing style. The Tanglewood Sundance is also more compact than a standard dreadnought shape, making this guitar a lot more manageable for players with restricted reach as well as being brilliant for travelling with.
Built using solid spruce for the top-wood, a mahogany neck, back and sides, and a rosewood fingerboard, players can achieve a variety of tones. The spruce soundboard delivers a wide, dynamic tonal palette, which resonates well whilst and provides a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm midi-range, and bright highs. This paired with mahogany back and sides, which adds richness and warmth into the mix. Mahogany is used a lot in the acoustic world, as it is relatively economical, durable, attractive, easy to work with, and resonant.
The mahogany neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard, delivering a warm, bright, and sparkly tone that really shines through when using finger picking techniques. The reason why many guitar necks are made from mahogany is because it responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. With a natural gloss finish, rosewood fingerboard, and white dot finger-board position inlays, the Tanglewood Sundance Historic really is a guitar of classic Tanglewood quality.
The Tanglewood Sundance Historic comes with an on-board Fishman preamp that is located in the sound-hole. Players can easily achieve the perfect tone using the rotary controls for volume and tone.
In addition to providing you with a beautiful tone and comfortable playing experience, the Sundance Electro-Acoustic is finished with a full host of ornate details that complete its traditional appearance. The ABS Ivory binding complements the tonewood colour beautifully, providing a traditional appearance that players will love. Finally, this stunning guitar is finished in natural gloss, which adds a blend of classic looks with signature Tanglewood styling.
