Reissue

The OSD-9 is faithful reissue of the OD880, which was first released in 1977. The original OD880 model was made famous by Japanese guitar legend Char, who gave this iconic pedal a renowned status. The OSD-9 has been resurrected for today's player, and is equipped with a passive distortion circuit, delivering that same warm and natural overdrive tone, as well as transparent boost for added impact. The OSD-9 is highly responsive to the player's dynamics, capturing every nuance for the ultimate tone. As well as offering a versatile overdrive, the OSD-9 can also be used as a stand-alone dirt box, or stacked with similar units for added clarity and character.

Nine Series

The OSD-9 is part of Maxon's nine series, which all feature the same iconic chassis design, as well as true bypass switching. Since the introduction of this series in the 1980s, Maxon has achieved a legendary status amongst players across the world, due to the versatile choice of effects on offer. The OSD-9 stays true to its original design, with a simple interface and vibrant colour. Players can easily achieve the perfect overdrive sound with the choice of two control knobs. Its indestructible metal chassis ensures that all the internal components remain protected no matter on the application.

Maxon’s Note on Powering the OSD-9

This pedal’s voltage regulator IC requires a high inrush current of approximately 2000 mA upon startup. When using with a Power Brick such as the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2+, this pedal should be connected to a high current power jack when possible.

If it is not possible to connect to a high current jack, you can power the OSD-9 by leaving a battery in the pedal. Upon initial start-up, unplug the external DC power input cable, engage the pedal, and then plug the DC power input cable back in – the pedal will now power up normally off the external power supply until you power down your pedalboard.

About Maxon

Maxon started out in Japan in 1965 under the name Nisshin Onpa, manufacturing guitar pickups before producing OEM products for other companies. Nisshin Onpa was responsible for designing and manufacturing many legendary pedals while working in partnership with Ibanez, including the TS-808/TS808 and TS9 tube screamers. Although many of the pedals Maxon created were released under the Ibanez name, Maxon was producing pedals under their own name, and in 2002 when the two companies parted way, Maxon began to push its name as a manufacturer of high-quality effects pedals. Today Maxon produce "hard-to-find" vintage type effects pedals, and are used by many artists such as Pearl Jam, Troy Van Leeuwen, Steve Stevens, Brad Whitford, and many more.
