A Powerful Auto Filter

The AF-9 pedal is Maxon’s take on creating the legendary Mu-Tron III, using special optical circuitry to deliver funky, liquid shimmering envelope filters that were prominent in 70’s funk and soul music. With a frequency range of 100Hz to 4kHz, the pedal is designed with low, band, and high pass filters with low and high operation ranges to create a wide range of wah effects. Create simple wah tones to funked-up, outer space exploration sounds that add a whole layer of depth to your sound.

An Intuitive User Interface

With a range of controls providing extensive tweaking to the pedals effect, the AF-9 is ideal for players who want complete control over their sound. Designed to easily dial in the desired tweaks, the pedal’s threshold and peak are set to the two slider for quick changes to the response and tonality of the filter. The threshold slider can be used to change the degree of pic attack that is required to trigger the filter, whilst the peak boosts the centre frequency of the filter to emphasize the effect. The drive switch controls the direction of the sweep, either going from low to high, or high to low, while the range control sets where the filter sits in the frequency.

About Maxon

Maxon started out in Japan in 1965 under the name Nisshin Onpa, manufacturing guitar pickups before producing OEM products for other companies. Nisshin Onpa was responsible for designing and manufacturing many legendary pedals while working in partnership with Ibanez, including the TS-808/TS808 and TS9 tube screamers. Although many of the pedals Maxon created were released under the Ibanez name, Maxon was producing pedals under their own name, and in 2002 when the two companies parted way, Maxon began to push its name as a manufacturer of high-quality effects pedals. Today Maxon produce "hard-to-find" vintage type effects pedals, and are used by many artists such as Pearl Jam, Troy Van Leeuwen, Steve Stevens, Brad Whitford, and many more.
