The Bass Guitar has existed in many forms for centuries and is considered as an instrument from the Rhythm section of a band. The Double Bass or Upright Bass has been replaced in most forms of modern music by the Electric Bass Guitar. However, the Double Bass is still used in Orchestras and some forms of Jazz/Blues music. The standard electric bass guitar has 4 strings, however 5 string, 6 string, 7 string and even 8 string bass guitars are manufactured and used in many forms of music. Busker's or Folk musicians will often prefer to use an Acoustic Bass to allow for a more natural tone. The majority of acoustic bass guitars come equipped with a preamp onboard so that they can be amplified if neccessary. |
